CHARACTER GUIDELINES

Where to Start

First, start in the same place you always start when creating a character. What type of character do you want to play? By this point, hopefully you have skimmed the site and have a basic understanding of Lumina as far as theme and style. If not, I recommend reading through Lumina City, History, Culture, and LCPD

After reading through those, you should have a good idea of the setting, theme, and what the world is like. If you want, I also recommend taking a look at MegaCorps and Gangs. This will give you an idea of what each of them do, where they are, and provide a better understanding of the city. Of course, there is more on this site to read, but those are the most important in regards to learning and understanding the city.

Character Creation Rules

Now that you have a good understanding of the city and setting, you will want to take a look at Character Creation Rules. There you will find some custom campaign backgrounds to choose from as well as important information for character creation. For the backgrounds, it is recommended to choose one of those listed but you can choose any background from PF2e system as long as you can make it thematically fit the setting. If you need help with this, let me know. I am more than happy to help.

You will also find a list of banned ancestries and heritages. These were banned due to them not fitting in with the lore and/or setting of the campaign. So you will not be able to play the ancestries or heritages listed. You will find the starting level and currency information there as well. It is important to note that all items and equipment in PF2e will have a 25% price mark up. This is done to fit with the games economy. During character creation, you can purchase items at their listed cost.

The 25% price increase will begin when the campaign begins

Character Childhood/Past/Present and Personality

To help you create a character that fits in the city and is cemented in the city, I have added some roll tables for you to use to help with this. You can either click the "Roll" buttons to randomly generate a character backstory, or you can pick and choose. I do recommend going through them as they will not only help place your character in Lumina City but it will also help me generate some personal arcs for your character specifically.

Roll Tables

  1. Character Childhood

  2. Character Past

  3. Character Present

  4. Character Personality

The results will give you a good start to a backstory for your character.

Get Your Character a Home!

After you have your character, go to Lumina City Real Estate to purchase your character a home!

That's right! Your character will need to purchase a place to live and pay rent. You can purchase a home using some of your starting money to secure your character an apartment. As you level up and earn more money, you can move your character to better apartments or possibly even get a mansion in Nova Heights! The better the apartment, the better the buff!

If your character does not have home, they will be considered homeless and will be Fatigued.

If you have a 1 bedroom apartment, then it can only benefit yourself. The number of bedrooms a property has refers to the amount of people, players and/or NPCs, it can accommodate. This means, if you want another player or NPC to sleep over then you will need a property that has more than 1 bedroom.

Example Character Generation

This is a character that I generated going through the roll tables. It came out really well and gave me a character I genuinely would like to play. Play around with it and see what you come up with!
